Two-time National Award-winning Tamil actor Dhanush is hard at work on his next big film, Vaathi, which is also coming out in Telugu under the title Sir. Being directed by Venky Atluri, who is known for his Tholi Prema and the Keerthy Suresh and Nithiin-starrer Rang De, the upcoming film is a joint production venture of Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya's Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas and is being presented by PDV Prasad, with a considerable amount of filming already completed. Launched in January this year, a new behind-the-scenes photo from the sets of Vaathi is now doing the rounds on social media in which we see director Venky Atluri, with actor Ken Karunas, who is playing a crucial role in the film, which incidentally is Dhanush's first-ever bilingual venture.

Vaathi is the second occasion Ken Karunas is appearing in a Dhanush film after he played the actor's son in the 2019 box office blockbuster Asuran under Vetri Maaran's direction. There has been a lot of hype surrounding the film, especially after the makers released a couple of BTS photos of Dhanush during filming in which he is seen in a school boy's uniform, thus raising the curiosity among many of the actor's fans. Dhanush is paired opposite Malayalam sensation Samyuktha Menon in Vaathi, who is fresh off the success of her debut in Telugu in the Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati-starrer Bheemla Nayak. Vaathi / Sir will feature music by chart-buster music director turned actor G. V. Prakash Kumar, who is once again composing for a Dhanush film after their previous blockbuster collaborations namely Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna, Asuran, including Maaran most recently. The film also includes names like cinematographer Yuvraj, editor Navin Nooli and Avinash Kolla as the production designer forming the core technical team.
