Thalapathy Vijay is one of the top most stars in Tamil cinema who enjoys a phenomenal fan base. Vijay also has quite a good reputation among the household audience and his films have a minimum guaranteed viewership during telecast. Having said that, Thalapathy Vijay’s Jilla was aired a few days back on Sun TV and surprisingly, it has topped the TRP ranking. Jilla was aired on June 21 (Sunday) evening at 6.30 PM and it has got a very high viewership. According to the statistical report released by BARC (Broadcast Audio Research Council), Jilla has recorded 10,138,000 impressions from its telecast on June 21.

Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta (directed by Karthik Subbaraj) which was aired on June 20 (Saturday) evening at 6.30 PM has got the second place with 8,295,000 impressions. Vadivelu's comedy drama, Tenaliraman is in third place with 6,673,00 impressions. This report has been calculated for the 25th week of the year, dated between June 20 and June 26. This statistical report has got Vijay fans super excited and all the fan pages are abuzz about this on social media. Despite being a film that released 6 years before, Jilla has managed to earn a very good viewership rating and it proves the support Vijay has, among the family audience. Notably, Jilla has already been telecast a lot of times before.

Jilla, which featured Vijay, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles, was directed by R.T.Neason and produced by R.B.Chaudhary’s Super Good Films. The film witnessed an epic box office clash with Thala Ajith’s Veeram for the festive occasion of Pongal and both the films turned out to be a box office success.

Up next, Vijay is eagerly waiting for the release of his next film, Master, which is expected to be one of the major trump cards to revive the trade and box office after the global pandemic situation. Produced by XB Film Creators and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Master has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander and features Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. The film also has Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Gouri Kishan, KPY Dheena playing key roles. The release date of Master will be known only when this panic situation is resolved.
