The Galatta Crown 2022 held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on May 8 has turned out to be the biggest digital awards ceremony of the year and set the entire nation talking as top names in the entertainment industry had graced the gala event, with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh's arrival turning out to be the biggest highlight of the evening. A number of leading names in Tamil and South Indian cinema too had also made heads turn among whom included Venkat Prabhu, Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, Sivakarthikeyan, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Boney Kapoor, Raghava Lawrence, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Nelson Dilipkumar, SJ Suryah, Priyanka Mohan, Pa Ranjith, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Krithi Shetty, to name a notable few. 

In that light, several top names in Tamil cinema were bestowed big honors at The Galatta Crown 2022 and that also included leading talents being nominated for the Best Screenplay Award (2021-2022) among whom were: 

1) Venkat Prabhu - Maanaadu
2) T. J. Gnanavel / Kiruthika B - Jai Bhim
3) Pa. Ranjith / Tamizh Prabhu - Sarpatta Parambarai 
4) Franklin Jacob - Writer 
5) Nelson Dilipkumar - Doctor

Among the nominees for the Best Screenplay Award (2021-2022) at The Galatta Crown 2022, director Venkat Prabhu was adjudged as the winner. Speaking about his victory, the blockbuster filmmaker in his speech said, "I'm elated with this accolade as I'm receiving an award for screenplay after a gap of 15 years when I last won one for Chennai 600028. I would like to thank STR because it's a difficult task to accept this story and many who are present here know how he listens to a story. He loved the story instantly. For a hero to take up a role that is on the same level as the antagonist is quite difficult and it was because of his faith in the story. I also want to thank producer Suresh Kamatchi sir and all my assistant directors. They worked with me for nearly three years on this film." 

Venkat Prabhu, who had delivered the box office money-spinner Mankatha with Ajith Kumar a decade back, was also queried about whether fans can expect an update on its sequel. The hit filmmaker revealed, "At present, I cannot say anything because I don't know its status." Although the news had come as a bummer for some fans, many at The Galatta Crown 2022 continued to express their hope for Mankatha 2 to be made to the filmmaker.
