Thunivu is an upcoming action thriller film written and directed by H. Vinoth, and produced by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects LLP and Zee Studios . It stars Ajith Kumar and Manju Warrier. The film began production in April 2022 and wrapped in October. It is scheduled to release in January 2023, during Pongal.

The latest development about Thunivu is that politician-producer-actor Udhayanidhi Stalin’s production house Red Giant Movies has acquired its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu. They will be releasing the film in several theatres across the state as they have signed the deal to release it on their screens. This can also be seen on social media as many theatres have been announcing this latest development in order to get it to the public's attention.

Even in the suburbs, many theaters have confirmed Thunivu release in their theaters for Pongal. Red Giant Movies has also decided on the profit share which has to be allocated to the distributors and theatres. According to reports, the profit share would be 75% for distributors and 25% for theatre owners in the first week. In the second week, 70% of the profits would be allocated to distributors and 30% to theatre owners.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film were sold to Netflix and the satellite rights to Kalaignar TV. Thunivu will mark the third collaboration between Ajith Kumar, H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor after having previously worked together on the 2019 courtroom drama Nerkonda Paarvai and the action thriller film Valimai which hit the screens earlier this year.

Meanwhile, on the work front, following the release of Thunivu, Ajith Kumar will start shooting for his next project which has tentatively been titled as AK62. The yet-to-be-titled film will be helmed by Vignesh Shivan and produced under the banner of Lyca Productions with its music composed by the musical genius Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander.
