Oththa Seruppu Size 7, simply known as Oththa Seruppu, is a 2019 thriller film produced, written, and directed by R. Parthiban under the banner of Bioscope Film Framers. The film stars R. Parthiban himself as the only character. The background score for the film is composed by C. Sathya and the film has only one song, which is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The film is now being remade in Hindi with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role and directed once again by Parthiban himself.
Speaking of the Hindi remake, Abhishek Bachchan was recently interviewed by National Award winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, for our channel Galatta Plus, in celebration of the actor's recent release, Breathe Into The Shadows. During this interview, they got to talking about the remake of Oththa Seruppu in Hindi which is called SSS7. Bachchan junior says that the shooting had finished last August itself and will be released very very soon.
When asked why he accepted that role, he said he did it as a challenge as he had never done a solo actor film before. He goes on to say how it was a mixture of exercise and a huge huge challenge. It was also because he really liked the script. He says that the film was shot in just 20 days in a studio in Chennai. The movie was also reported to be remade in Indonesian making it the first Tamil movie to be remade in that language and the second Indian movie to be remade in that language after Drishyam.
Oththa Seruppu Size 7 entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for having a single person writing, directing, solo acting, and producing a film. It was the third South Indian film to feature a single actor after the 2001 Malayalam movie The Guard and the 2005 Kannada movie Shanti. The film was released worldwide on 20 September 2019 and opened to high critical acclaim.
