'Thalapathy' Vijay's Master has smashed itself into theatres around the world, with the film taking a phenomenal start at the box office. The first big film of 2021, the mass masala action entertainer directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj under Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators banner, also includes 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, whose fiery screen presence is a major USP alongside an electrifying Vijay, as per the reviews that are out so far. With the film out in India and several countries around the world, the makers have now released the much-awaited 'Vaathi Kabbadi' song video, which was reserved as a special treat for fans watching in theatres first.

Anirudh Ravichander, whose songs for Vijay in Master after Kaththi in 2014 have turned out to be chart-busters, has delivered a thumping track yet again in the form of 'Vaathi Kabbadi'. First teased earlier this week in the final Master promo, fans had been asking for the 'Vaathi Kabbadi' song to be officially released, with the makers now acknowledging their requests. The track, which is a mix of the 'Vaathi Coming' song in Master and the 'Kabaddi' theme track composed by Vidyasagar in Vijay's 2004 mega blockbuster Ghilli, has taken social media by storm. It is to be noted that Anirudh's songs in Master were the big consolation for Vijay fans as it was the last big promotion for the film prior to the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, which stalled the theatrical release for nearly a year.

Master is one of Vijay's biggest releases in his career as it hit screens across India, with the film also out in Hindi under the title Vijay The Master. Despite the 50% occupancy order by the Tamil Nadu government, theatres in the state have witnessed an attendance more than what had been advised and has since caused some concern as visuals outside and inside cinema halls have shown that many have not adhered to distancing or the COVID-19 norms. The film had sustained the test of time by not being released on any OTT platforms after there were speculations that it would skip its theatrical outing. Vijay, producer Xavier Britto, distributor Lalit Kumar and director Lokesh Kanagaraj had always maintained that Master would only be released in theatres, with fans' reactions now highly positive after the first screenings.
