The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic has already not just taken away the entire year of 2020 from us but also a number of people we held dear to our hearts! This deadly Virus has been attacking people irrespective of their social standing or position in life and has already infected a number of sportspersons, world leaders, politicians, actors and a number of others, while also taking some of them away from us! In India, many politicians have been infected by the Virus, including our Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Railways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as well as the Karnataka CM. Thannkfully, these were all people who were infected with COVID but made a full recovery.

However, some politicians like the former President Pranab Mukherjee, senior Congress politician & MP H Vasanthakumar and DMK MLA J Anbalagan, are the ones who were affected by the Virus and did not make it through! Now, joining this list is senior AIADMK leader and former Minister - PV Damodaran! The 76-year-old politician however, did not die due to COVID, as he had made a full recovery after being infected by the Virus, but passed away due to age-related illnesses! PV Damodaran passed away at a Private Hospital, in Coimbatore. He was originally admitted to a hospital on December 15th, after testing positive for COVID but had since made a full recovery. Sources in the know say that he had been suffering from ill health, for some time now.

PV Damodaran is said to be one of the founding members of AIADMK and was among the people who quit the DMK along with MGR. He won the MLA elections from the Pongalur constituency in 2001 and went on to serve as a Minister in the late CM J Jayalalithaa's cabinet, from 2003 to 2006! He was in-charge of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development portfolios. At the AIADMK's 25th year celebrations, Jayalalithaa felicitated Damodaran for his loyalty and along with a Cabinet position, also gave him the party's Coimbatore rural district Secretary position. The TN CM Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam expressed their condolences at the passing of veteran politician Damodaran. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the departed soul to rest in peace!
