The 2018 adult horror comedy entertainer, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, directed by Hara Hara Mahadevaki fame Santhosh P. Jayakumar and starring Gautham Karthik, Yashika Aannand, Vaibhavi Shandilya, Chandrika Ravi and Shah Ra went on to taste box office success. After IAMK, a sequel titled Irandaam Kuththu was announced, with director Santhosh P. Jayakumar also announced to be making his debut as a hero. IAMK 2, as it is also being called, hit screens this Diwali and has been seeing a strong youth audience heading to theatres across Tamil Nadu. 

Produced by Hari Bhaskaran's Flying Horse Pictures, Irandam Kuththu, which also includes Karishma Kaul, Akrithi Singh, Meenal Sahu playing the female leads, followed by Daniel Annie Pope, Rajendiran, Ravi Maria, Chaams, TSK, Singam Puli, Swaminathan, Shalu Shamu among others in important supporting roles, is incidentally the first film to have released in Tamil Nadu theatres, after the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic brought a halt to operations in cinema halls across the country. With IAMK 2 now out in theatres, promotions for the film are still being carried in an active manner, with the much-awaited 'Veeradhi Veera' video song now being released. The song has been composed by Dharan Kumar and features vocals by Bhavna Balakrishnan to the lyrics penned by Srikanth Varadan. 

Although Irandam Kuthtu is seeing a substantially good audience coming in to watch it in theatres, the film has not impressed everyone as critics have predominantly given it unfavorable reviews. Despite this, director Santhosh P. Jayakumar, who was queried by a fan on Twitter last week post the release of the film whether there would be a third installment, went on to reveal that there indeed are plans for another part and will be in 2022. As of now, there are no further details available on Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu 3 or IAMK 3 as it is being called and the star cast Santhosh P. Jayakumar chooses for the next remains to be seen. Whether he will go back to the cast of the first film or retain Irandam Kuththu's team once again is unknown at this point.
