Two-time National Award-winning actor Dhanush's first big film of 2023, Vaathi, is set to open in cinemas worldwide on February 17. Directed by hit Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema and Rang De fame, the upcoming film has been produced by Naga Vamsi's Sithara Entertainments banner in association with Sai Soujanya's Fortune Four Cinemas and is being released in Tamil Nadu by S S Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio. With Vaathi only a couple of days now away from its grand theatrical release, the film's censor and runtime details have now been revealed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Dhanush's Vaathi has received a 'U' certificate and the final theatrical cut of the film is set at 2 hours and 19 minutes, with the first show expected to begin screening at 8 a.m. this Friday. Expectations are huge now after a recent screening was held for the Telugu version titled Sir, with the first reviews indicating a positive result for the film. It is further being reported that a special screening for the Tamil version Vaathi is going to happen on Thursday and fans will be looking forward to what the leading personalities have to say about the film. The audio launch and trailer released recently have done plenty in generating excitement for the Dhanush-starrer and fans expect it to become a box office success similar to the actor's Thiruchitrambalam, which came out last year.

Vaathi is set in the 1990s, with Dhanush playing the role of a mathematics teacher. The film will see the actor paired with youth Malayalam sensation Samyuktha, while Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Motta Rajendran, Tanikella Bharani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadhi, Shah ra, Hareesh Peradi, Praveena, among others, will be seen appearing supporting roles. One other major USP of Vaathi is the highly-successful Dhanush-G. V. Prakash Kumar combo after their previous collaborations namely Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna, Asuran, and Maaran.
