Two-time National Award-winning actor Dhanush's first big film of 2023, Vaathi, which is a bilingual and is also coming out in Telugu under the title SIR, is gearing up for a worldwide release on February 17. The upcoming film set in the 1990s and has been directed by hit Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema and Rang De fame, is one of the year's most-awaited released and the music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar is a major highlight. With the first two songs in Dhanush's Vaathi, 'Vaa Vaathi' and 'Naadodi Mannan' turning out to be chart-topping hits, the remaining songs in the album has been released on Saturday, February 4, ahead of the film's theatrical release in two weeks time.

Dhanush and G. V. Prakash have tasted phenomenal success in their past associations in films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Mayakkam Enna, Asuran, and Maaran, and the duo started on a big note with the first two tracks in the film. The upcoming film produced by Naga Vamsi's Sithara Entertainments banner in association with Sai Soujanya's Fortune Four Cinemas has been carrying a lot of excitement despite seeing a delay in its release after it was postponed from its initial plan to arrive on December 2. Fans expect G. V. Prakash to come out on top once again in Vaathi after he won the National Award for Best Background Score in Suriya's Soorarai Pottru and it will be interesting to see his work in the Dhanush-starrer.
Vaathi has Dhanush paired with Malayalam youth sensation Samyuktha Menon and their chemistry in the 'Vaa Vaathi' song received a double thumbs-up. Their romantic portions are expected to be a big highlight and the film is coming out as a wholesome family entertainer with a strong social message, with Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio acquiring the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights. The supporting cast in Vaathi includes Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadhi, Shara, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Motta Rajendran, Hareesh Peradi, and Praveena.
