Earlier this afternoon (July 8), reports started to spread on social media stating that Chiyaan Vikram suffered a cardiac arrest and was immediately rushed to Kauvery Hospital, Chennai for medical treatment. The news instantly spread among the fans making them all worried about his health condition. However, when we enquired with Vikram's official PR team regarding the same, we were informed that he fell ill and had viral fever and there is nothing more to it. We were also told that his health condition is better now and will get back to normalcy soon. It has been requested not to spread any false rumours regarding his health condition

Eventually an official statement from Vikram's official Manager, Surya Narayanan, informing that the star actor felt a slight chest comfort last night after which he was admitted to the hospital and there is no truth to the reports about the heart attack. He also confirmed that Vikram is doing fine and is in good health. The official statement read, "Dear fans and wellwishers, Chiyaan Vikram had mild chest discomfort and is being treated for the same. He DID NOT have a heart attack as reports falsely claim. We are pained to hear rumours to this effect. That being said, we request you to give him and the family the privacy they need at this time. Our dear Chiyaan is fine now. He is likely to be discharged from hospital in a day. We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest."

The fans have been praying for his speedy recovery and at this moment, we at Galatta Media also pray for his speedy recovery and wish him to get back in action soon. On the acting front, Chiyaan Vikram has multiple interesting projects in his pipeline and the first release will be Cobra which is slated to release in theatres on August 11. The film will be presented by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies and produced by Seven Screen Studios. Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the film will have music composed by A.R.Rahman.

The highlight project, however, happens to be Ponniyin Selvan in which Vikram will be essaying the character of Aditya Karikalan. Vikram is said to have delivered one of his best ever performances in this Mani Ratnam directorial and the fans have pinned high hopes on the movie. Ponniyin Selvan: PS 1 is slated to hit the screens on September 30 and it will have a pan-Indian release in 5 languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Vikram will be also be teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Pa Ranjith for a period flick and the project is tentatively titled Chiyaan 61. Studio Green will be producing the Vikram - Pa Ranjith project.
