Acclaimed veteran devotional singer Narendra Chanchal passed away on Friday after battling illness for a long time. He was 80. Chanchal was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Delhi two months back. Reports state the singer's concert organizer Sanjay Malik too confirmed the same in a statement that he had passed away at around 12PM. Known among fans for his bhajans, including lending his voice for songs in Bollywood films, Chanchal's fans have been pouring their condolences on social media ever since coming to know about his demise. 

Narendra Chanchal's most notable Bollywood songs are 'Chalo Bulava Aaya Hai' from Avtaar and 'Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo' from the 1973 blockbuster Bobby, which took his fame to greater heights. The Ministry of Culture honored the late singer in their tribute message and wrote on Twitter, "Extremely saddened to learn the unfortunate demise of Veteran singer Narendra Chanchal known for his religious songs and bhajans. Heartfelt condolences to the departed soul & strength to the family members in this hour of bereavement.". 

Award-winning Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar too expressed his sorrow and tweeted, "Saddened to hear demise of singer Narendra Chanchal ji , He will be remembered for his bhajans and some remarkable songs in Hindi films, my heartfelt condolences to his admirers and family". Likewise, popular Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi wrote, "Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji  has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family and legions of fans." Composer Vishal Dadlani tweeted, "Shri #NarendraChanchal ji will be remembered forever through the songs he sang. I doubt anyone will ever walk up to Vaishnodevi without hearing his voice resounding through the hills." Similarly, cricketer Harbhajan Singh paid his respects and wrote, "Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family"
