Jan 19 - TN COVID Update: 543 New Cases | 09 New Deaths | Total - 831,866 Cases & 12,281 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 543 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 831,866! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 200 in these recent days! 152 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 229,386! Kancheepuram has recorded 12 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 29,089 and 124 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 50,975 total cases of which 342 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,286 cases with 217 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 58 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu has recorded 45 cases and Tiruvallur has recorded 40 new cases!
There have been 09 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,281. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 229,386 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 5,487 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 1,893! There have been 772 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 814,098. There have been 51,461 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 15,331,269 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 51,204 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 15,022,340!
