5 factors that make us believe Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran has massive potential to be a big box office blockbuster

5 factors why sivakarthikeyan maaveeran will be a blockbuster madonne ashwin aditi shankar mysskin - Tamil Movie Cinema News

Leading actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran is gearing up to be one of the year's biggest releases and will open in cinemas worldwide on July 14. Directed by Madonne Ashwin under producer Arun Viswa's Shanthi Talkies banner and featuring music by Bharath Sankar, the upcoming film also stars Aditi Shankar, Mysskin, Saritha, Sunil, and Yogi Babu among others, and is expected to take a huge opening in Tamil Nadu as distribution giant Red Giant Movies are expected to go full-out in putting the word out ahead of its release in the next two weeks.

Sivakarthikeyan will be hoping for Maaveeran to hit the bullseye to kickstart the year on a winning note and the trailer of the film released today is surely a delightful treat from start to finish. Up until now, it was only revealed that SK will be seen as a budding cartoonist, while Mysskin is playing the role of a dangerous politician. With the Maaveeran trailer now out, the film has all the necessary elements to hit the high note and become Sivakarthikeyan's next blockbuster after his Don (2022) did wonders at the box office.

We look at the five factors from Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran trailer that make us believe there is massive potential for it to become a blockbuster:

ACTING

Based on the visuals in the Maaveeran trailer, one can be sure that there's more to it than meets the eye, especially with Sivakarthikeyan's performance, who has shown more range once again after Doctor (2022). This time, we see him shift his performance from being mild-mannered before unleashing himself on the action stage, and that raises the belief that he will be a treat to witness on the big screen. Aditi Shankar is yet another big addition and her role in the film seems to be the complete opposite of what was witnessed in her debut Viruman (2022), which made her a youth heart-throb. An important trait of any filmmaker will be his/her ability to act out his/her vision and for a director of Mysskin's caliber, his role in Maaveeran will no doubt be a feast to watch. Saritha, who ruled the screens in the 1980s, is seen as SK's mother and she too is seen displaying her acting chops once again. Comedy actor Yogi Babu's rapport with Sivakarthikeyan has been a big treat over the years and their banter in the Maaveeran trailer once again convinces us their chemistry is going to be a major highlight.

FANTASY ELEMENT

One fascinating aspect of the Maaveeran trailer is the hint of the fantasy element each time Sivakarthikeyan looks up to the sky. Although no specific reason is given in the visuals, one can be certain that there will be an interesting explanation for his character to behave in such a manner. If one were to go back and watch the Maaveeran title announcement teaser released last year, viewers will have seen strings tied to SK likea puppet, but looking down for the most part. In the Maaveeran trailer, especially in the fight sequences, it is noticeable that Sivakarthikeyan is looking straight up =at the person in front of him in all instances, while rarely taking his sight away from what's up ahead.

COMMERCIAL SENSIBILITIES

Commercial films taste success at the box office for the manner in which the key aspects like action, comedy, sentiment, and so on are presented, and director Madonne Ashwin has once again shown that he has a good bead on what will and will not work for a film of Maaveeran's scope. The visuals in the trailer show that there's a balance between all the basic commercial elements and in due proportion, with the plot and the story given the main emphasis. The fantasy element in Maaveeran with Sivakarthikeyan and his character is indeed the kickstarter for all the other characters in the film to bounce off of and we can expect quite a fun ride in cinemas.

DIRECTION

Madonne Ashwin is coming off of the huge critical success of his directorial debut, Mandela (2021), which earned him the Best Debut Film of a Director and Best Screenplay (Dialogues) awards at the 68th National Film Awards, and having shown a standard in his first film has added to the intrigue and the excitement as to what he has in store with Maaveeran. While Mandela was smaller in comparison to its setting but with a universal theme, Maaveeran seems to be bigger in both aspects as we can expect the political factor to play a substantial role in the story, especially with Mysskin's character and the portrayal of forced displacement of the people, and fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to what Madonne Ashwin has to say with his social commentary in the film.

RED GIANT MOVIES

While producer Arun Viswa has been promoting Maaveeran extensively under his Shanthi Talkies banner, production and distribution giant Red Giant Movies will play a vital role as the game changer in the fate of the film in the days ahead. Considering Red Giant Movies' last time partnership with Sivakarthikeyan for Don (2022) did wonders at the box office raking in more than Rs. 100 crores in collections, we can expect a good number of theatres across Tamil Nadu to screen Maaveeran this time as well.
