The wait has come to an end for Sivakarthikeyan's fans everywhere as the much-awaited Maaveeran trailer has now been released. Scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on July 14, the film is the leading Tamil actor-producer's first big release of 2023 and has been directed by Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin under producer Arun Viswa's Shanthi Talkies banner featuring music composed by Bharath Sankar. Releasing in Telugu under the title Mahaveerudu, the trailer for Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran has been launched at a grand pre-release event at the Sri Sairam Engineering College on the outskirts of Chennai.

The Maaveeran trailer starts off introducing Sivakarthikeyan as a mild-mannered cartoonist in Chennai, who gets entangled in a series of problems after ripping apart the poster of a politician. SK is seen once again in his boy-next-door image and we get introduced to Aditi Shankar as his love interest before filmmaker Mysskin makes a thunderous arrival as a political leader on the hunt, with veteran actress Saritha, Pushpa fame Suneel, and comedy actor Yogi Babu also making appearances in key roles. The Maaveeran trailer shows Sivakarthikeyan as someone who steers clear from any form of violence until the odds are pitted against him and his character undergoes a radical transformation taking on a bunch of thugs who take him out to the sea before he unleashes his mass avatar.
Expectations are huge for Sivakarthikeyan to come out firing on all cylinders with Maaveeran after his Prince released as a Diwali treat in 2022 ended up with mixed reviews. The upcoming film is expected to take a stellar opening in Tamil Nadu considering Red Giant Movies have acquired the theatrical rights and the blockbuster production-distribution banner will be looking to surpass the success they tasted after releasing Sivakarthikeyan's Don last year. Maaveeran will also be setting the stage for Sivakarthikeyan's second big release of the year, the highly-anticipated big-budget sci-fi venture, Ayalaan, which is scheduled to hit screens this Diwali in November and has been directed by R. Ravikumar featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
