A video for the announcement of Vijay's Thalapathy 65 was released by Sun Pictures towards the end of last year, with Nelson Dilipkumar revealed to be the director. Touted to be a mass masala action thriller, the first schedule of the upcoming film kicked off in Georgia, with leading South Indian actress Pooja Hegde announced to be playing the female lead and Anirudh Ravichander composing the music. With the Thalapathy 65 team currently back in Chennai after the wrap of the first schedule, a video is now going viral on social media showing Vijay surrounded by fans in what looks to be the shooting location at Georgia where he is seen signing autographs for all those who had gathered around him.

The leaked video also shows Vijay's get-up in Thalapathy 65 as he was last seen during the formal pooja of the film, which had been performed in March. Although the visuals in the video are not quite clear, we can make out that Vijay is carrying the same look as he had been last seen during the Thalapathy 65 pooja. As of now, there is still no clear word on when the shooting for the film will resume in Chennai as the lockdown in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic has forced production to be put on hold for an indefinite period of time. A decision on the resumption of Thalapathy 65's shooting is expected to be made after the team views the coronavirus situation in the city once the lockdown is lifted.

Expectations for Thalapathy 65 are massive considering it has Vijay teaming up with a relatively new director as Nelson Dilipkumar so far has the hit Nayanthara black comedy, Kolamaavu Kokila, under his belt, with his Doctor, starring Sivakarthikeyan, still awaiting its release. Likewise, the film also has actress Pooja Hegde making her comeback to Tamil cinema after nearly a decade when she made her debut in Mysskin's Mugamoodi. Apart from Vijay and Pooja Hegde, Thalapathy 65 also has popular Malayalam stars Shine Tom Chacko and Aparna Das in important supporting roles, with the film also marking 'Rockstar' Anirudh working with the superstar for the third time after delivering chart-busters in Kaththi and Master.
