Leading Telugu actor and producer Ram Charan on Tuesday revealed on Tuesday morning that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The 35-year-old superstar took to his social media pages to inform fans that he is asymptomatic and at present quarantined at his home. In a statement, Ram Charan said, "I have tested positive for COVID-19. No symptoms and quarantined and home. Hope to heal soon and come out stronger." The actor also wrote in his tweet, "Request all that have been around me in the past couple of days to get tested. More updates on my recovery soon."

Last month, Ram Charan's father 'Mega Star' Chiranjeevi tweeted that he had tested positive for coronavirus. The veteran actor later explained that he was COVID-negative as his initial test results showed a positive result due to a "faulty PCR-kit." He wrote, "A group of doctors did three different tests and concluded that I am COVID negative and that the earlier result was due to a faulty RT PCR kit. My heartfelt thanks for the concern, love shown by all of you during this time. Humbled."

Seen in 2019’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Ram Charan's last major box office success was the 2018 action period-drama Rangasthalam opposite Samantha Akkineni. He is currently starring in SS Rajamouli's mammoth pre-Independence action period film RRR, which also includes Jr. NTR in the lead role, with Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody among others forming the supporting cast. Set in the 1920s, RRR is a fictitious story based on two legendary Telugu freedom fighters - Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem, who led the fight against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Special character intro teaser promos released for both Ram Charan's Alluri Seetharamaraju and Jr. NTR's Komaram Bheem a while back received a rousing response from fans. Initially announced for January 8, 2021 worldwide theatrical release along with the dubbed versions in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil languages, RRR has since been postponed to a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ram Charan, who last produced Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, is once again bankrolling his father Chiranjeevi's upcoming action film Acharya under his Konidela Production Company banner.
