A few months before, it was reported that ace director Mani Ratnam will be producing a Tamil anthology titled Navarasa, consisting of 9 short films with each one directed by one filmmaker. The news was definitely exciting and it created a huge buzz among the film buffs. After various speculations and a long wait, the project has now been officially announced and we are sure that this news will make your day. Mani Ratnam will produce Navarasa under the banner of Madras Talkies along with Jayendra Panchapakesan. The exciting and highlight aspect of this project is that it will involve leading A-list star heroes like Suriya and Vijay Sethupathi in the cast. Interestingly, this project will mark Suriya’s debut in the digital space (considering Soorarai Pottru was initially shot as a theatrical film).

Navarasa's tagline reads 9 films - 9 emotions, justifying the title of the anthology. 9 short stories will be directed by 9 directors which includes:

With so many exciting talents coming together for one single project is definitely a very positive scene in the Tamil film industry and we hope such collaborations happen regularly. Details regarding each director's portion are yet to be known and we will get better clarity about it in the coming days. The revenue of this anthology film will directly go to the FEFSI Union daily wage workers who had a difficult time during the initial days of lockdown. The motto of this project is 'One Industry comes together for its people' and the genuine intent is appreciable.

Navarasa will stream directly on Netflix platform when it is completed and ready for release. Stay tuned to this space for more exciting updates. Check out the announcement tweet below:
