It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 2,522 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 714,235! After over months together of continuously recording over 3,000 new cases each day, Tamil Nadu has recorded less than 3,000 cases for the fourth consecutive day today, with the numbers continuing to reduce steadily! Of these, 695 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 197,077! Kancheepuram has recorded 98 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 25,284, while 449 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 42,951 total cases of which 1,203 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 37,364 cases with 1,166 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 209 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 146 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 144 new cases!
There have been 27 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,983. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 197,077 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 27,734 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 8,096! There have been 4,029 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 675,518. There have been 70,687 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 9,660,430 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 69,344 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 9,397,691! There are reports that the overal COVID cases is on a downward trend in India and that our country has gone past the peak of the infection.
