It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,546 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 591,943! Of these, 1,277 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 166,029! Kancheepuram has recorded 159 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 21,806, while 887 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 35,228 total cases of which 2,184 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 32,173 cases with 1,621 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 572 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 342 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 330 new cases!
There have been 70 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,453. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 166,029 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,281 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,193! There have been 5,501 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 536,209. There have been 85,997 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,267,122 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
