Sep 28 - TN COVID Update: 5,589 New Cases | 70 New Deaths | Total - 586,397 Cases & 9383 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,589 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 586,397! Of these, 1,283 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 164,744! Kancheepuram has recorded 147 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 21,693, while 895 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 34,855 total cases of which 2,189 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 31,887 cases with 1,589 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 587 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 256 new cases and both Thiruvallur & Chengalpattu recorded 249 new cases!
There have been 70 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,383. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 164,744 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,306 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,043! There have been 5,554 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 530,708. There have been 80,465 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,181,125 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
