It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5337 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 552,674! Of these, 989 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 157,614! Kancheepuram has recorded 209 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 20,803, while 1,105 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 33,030 total cases of which 2,281 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 30,582 cases with 1,667 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 595 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Tiruppur registered 369 new cases and Salem has recorded 291 new cases!
There have been 76 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8,947. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 157,614 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,350 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,012! There have been 5,406 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 497,377. There have been 84,730 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 6,640,058 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
