It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5791 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 580,808! Of these, 1,280 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 163,423! Kancheepuram has recorded 196 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 21,593, while 944 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 34,578 total cases of which 2,358 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 31,652 cases with 1,596 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 596 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 296 new cases and Tiruppur has recorded 282 new cases!
There have been 80 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,313. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 163,423 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,341 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,656! There have been 5,706 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 525,154. There have been 96,102 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,100,660 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
