Viruman is an upcoming masala film written and directed by M. Muthaiah who is known for his village based and region based scripts. Produced by Jyothika and Suriya under the banner of 2D Entertainment, the film stars Karthi and debutant Aditi Shankar, while Prakash Raj, Rajkiran, Saranya Ponvannan, Soori, and Karunas will be seen playing supporting roles. The music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography is handled by Selvakumar S. K., and editing by Venkat Raajen.

As the film is nearing its date of release, a new update has come to fruition. It has been announced that the Kerala rights for the film have been acquired by Fortune Cinemas. The makers of the film shared this piece of information through the official Twitter handle of 2D Entertainment. Sharing the poster of the film, they wrote, "Happy to associate with @cinemas_fortune  for the Kerala release of #Viruman In theatres from August 12th! ". Check it out:

The music rights of the film are owned by Sony Music India. The makers of the film have already dropped a song from the film titled 'Kanja Poovu Kannala' which had been crooned by Sid Sriram with the words being penned and provided by Karumathur Manimaran. This is the second collaboration between Karthi and director M. Muthaiah as they have previously worked together on the 2015 action drama film Komban which went on to receive positive reviews from fans and critics. 

Viruman was earlier scheduled to be released on 31 August 2022 coinciding with Vinayagar Chaturthi. But it was later revealed by its makers that the film will be brought forward and will instead release theatrically on 12 August 2022.
