Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu is now officially a blockbuster and has been reaping praises from fans and critics since it hit screens last month. The mass masala political entertainer directed by Venkat Prabhu under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions banner with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja features Simbu in a powerful avatar as the character Abdul Khaaliq alongside filmmaker turned actor S. J. Suryah, who as well has once again come up with yet another career-defining performance as the cop Dhanushkodi. Maanaadu, which revolves around the concept of time-loop and how two individuals are stuck in limbo in time repeatedly, has been lapped up by Tamil audiences for whom the story has come as a breath of fresh air.

Among the several highlights in Maanaadu, there features a scene with Silambarasan where he is tied to a chair and has the actor delivering an emotional performance. The Maanaadu chair scene has now been revealed to have been a single-take long shot and has the multi-talented actor performing for nearly five minutes straight, with director Venkat Prabhu calling the shots towards the end. We see STR being prompted from Venkat Prabhu in the side and the actor coming up with a powerful performance that leads to the entire unit giving him rousing applause, including S. J. Suryah joining in to congratulate him.

The single-shot long take chair sequence in Maanaadu was well-received by fans in theatres as it also featured S. J. Suryah and veteran Y. Gee. Mahendran completing the ensemble with their astute performances. It is to be noted that the chair scene is one among the single-take scenes as there is also the bottle fight sequence that was picturized as a long shot. As for the other performances, Maanaadu stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, with Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran director SA Chandrasekhar in pivotal roles, with cinematography by Richard M. Nathan and editing done by National Award winner Praveen K. L. for whom it is his 100th venture.
