In an expected turn of events, Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja has been postponed to a later date, the film's producer Suresh Kamatchi announced on Wednesday evening. The announcement has come as a massive shock to fans, who have been waiting for the film to hit theatres and had already begun celebrations in light of its worldwide theatrical release on November 25 (Thursday). Taking to Twitter, Suresh Kamatchi, who has produced Maanaadu under his V House Productions banner, tweeted, "The film has been made with a lot of dreams. Due to unavoidable reasons, the decision to postpone the release of Maanaadu has been taken. I am making this announcement with a lot of pain and a new release date will be revealed soon." This latest announcement from Suresh Kamatchi will come as a massive blow to Simbu fans everywhere, who have been waiting a long time for Maanaadu to hit screens. Promotions for the film were already being carried out in a grand manner after the team last week held a pre-release event, which saw STR, director Venkat Prabhu, producer Suresh Kamatchi, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and other artistes and crew members participate and share their excitement. Advance ticket bookings for Maanaadu have been sensational as theatre owners have been keeping fans updated, with many stating that the film’s opening is the biggest for Silambarasan to date. 

As of now, it remains to be seen how the Maanaadu team will go about for the release of the film on a later date and we shall have to wait for yet another announcement regarding it in the days ahead. Billed to be a mass masala political entertainer, Maanaadu revolves around the concept of time-loop and has Simbu alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan, followed by SJ Suryah in a major role alongside veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja, Y. Gee. Mahendra, Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran, Daniel Annie Pope among others.
