Silambarasan TR's Pathu Thala is out in theatres and has taken a grand start at the box office. The gangster drama directed by Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame Obeli N. Krishna and produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green in association with Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios banner has made 12.3 crores on day one of its release. The massive start for Pathu Thala is also the career-best opening for Simbu and has come on a working day with no early morning shows, Studio Green announced on social media on Friday, March 31.

Taking to Twitter, Studio Green revealed the Pathu Thala day one collections and wrote, "A working day release & no early morning shows, yet our #AGR #PathuThala registers a record opening! #Atman @SilambarasanTR_ career best numbers." STR, who plays the role of a don in the film, has hit the bullseye once again, as Pathu Thala's stellar opening is coming on the heels of the phenomenal box office response to his Maanaadu (2021) and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part I: The Kindling (2022), and this start to his latest big-screen outing couldn't get any bigger and sweeter. Pathu Thala has STR being joined by Gautham Karthik, who plays the role of an undercover cop, followed by Priya Bhavani Shankar cast as a tehsildar, while filmmaker Gautham Menon is the antagonist, with the ensemble cast also featuring the likes of Malayalam actress Anu Sithara, Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam, Santhosh Prathap, Redin Kingsley, Manushyaputhiran among others to name notable few. Pathu Thala also has chart-topping songs and a power-packed background score composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman, who has once again hit the high note for a Silambarasan-starrer after delivering chart-busters in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu.
