Silambarasan TR's first big release of 2023, Pathu Thala, is releasing on March 30 and the expectations for the gangster drama remake of the Kannada blockbuster, Mufti, is one of the biggest and most-awaited films of 2023. Directed by Obeli N. Krishna of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame and produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green in association with Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios banner, a special sneak peek video from the upcoming film has now been released as a surprise giving audiences a glimpse into the intense drama and action awaiting them in theatres.

The Pathu Thala sneak peek video starts off introducing Simbu as a don named AGR carrying a copy of the Kamba Ramayanam and walking on a beach alongside Namo Narayana, who is appearing as a politician named Mullai Vendhan. The glimpse shows them both casually strolling on the beach, while surrounded by STR's henchmen. The Pathu Thala scene then shows Simbu inquiring Namo Narayana about his activities and seeking his help, which he figures out was a hidden agenda all along. At one point, when Namo Narayana as Mullai Vendha is seen agreeing to AGR's terms, the latter strikes unannounced leaving the former impaled.
Pathu Thala is coming out amidst tremendous buzz as Silambarasan hit the bullseye with his last two ventures, Maanaadu (2021) and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part I: The Kindling (2022), which turned out to be box office blockbusters, while also garnering critical glory. The upcoming film also includes music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, whose songs have once again topped the charts and his powerful background score is also another treat. STR's Pathu Thala also stars Gautham Karthik playing the role of an undercover cop and Priya Bhavani Shankar as a tehsildar is the female lead, followed by filmmaker Gautham Menon cast as the antagonist, while Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam, Redin Kingsley, Anu Sithara, Manushyaputhiran among others are cast in key roles.
