Nandini or Kundavai? Silambarasan TR's speech highlights from the Ponniyin Selvan: 2 audio launch - here's what he said!

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is gearing up for a huge release in theatres on April 28 worldwide and the excitement is sky-high for the epic historical action adventure film. The sequel to the 2022 blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, had its audio launch event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, March 29, in a grand manner and saw the stars of the film grace the evening among whom included Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman and cast members 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Ashwin Kakumanu, Mohan Raman, Sarathkumar and Parthiban, with 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR gracing the occasion as the special guests. 

Joining in on the celebrations at the Ponniyin Selvan: 2 audio launch, Silambarasan TR was a big highlight and shared heartfelt words for the upcoming film's director Mani Ratnam. The flamboyant actor spoke about the time he was offered to act in the iconic filmmaker's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in 2018 and said, "I feel tense. My guru, Kamal Haasan sir, Mani Ratnam sir and A. R. Rahman sir are here today. You all know how huge a success Ponniyin Selvan: 1 was. Mani sir is the one person who offered me a chance to be a part of his film (Chekka Chivantha Vaanam) when I was in depression. Many people have wanted to make Ponniyin Selvan a reality, but it had been dropped all those times. Mani sir tried to do the film thrice and I feel happy and proud to see his vision realized." He further stated, " I am a night person. Today, if I am going to the shoot early in the morning, it's because of Mani sir."

STR, whose first big release of 2023 is Pathu Thala, also spoke about the Ponniyin Selvan cast during his speech sharing special words for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan saying he drew a picture of her in a drawing competition during his school days and won the first prize. He was also asked during his speech about who is his favorite among the two female characters in Ponniyin Selvan - Nandini portrayed by Aishwarya Rai or Kundavai played by Trisha. Simbu answered back with a question asking, "If you ask about my two eyes, how will I be able to choose?" Upon who his most favorite character in the Ponniyin Selvan world was, Simbu revealed that he will take up any character that Mani Ratnam would offer him.
