EXCLUSIVE: Will Aditha Karikalan and Arunmozhi Varman meet in Ponniyin Selvan: 2? Writer Jeyamohan explains!

Aditha karikalan arunmozhi varman meeting in ponniyin selvan 2 jeyamohan explains mani ratnam vikram jayam ravi - Tamil Movie Cinema News

Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is set to take a huge opening when it releases worldwide on April 28. The talk surrounding the film has been massive ever since Ponniyin Selvan: 1 came out last year and turned out to be a phenomenal box office and critical success. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the upcoming film sees Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman composing the songs and the background score after his work in the first installment received a stunning response. PS: 1, which ended on a cliffhanger note showing the fates of Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman and Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan in question, and 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditha Karikalan heading back to Thanjavur to seek vengeance, there has been quite a lot of debate regarding whether each of these characters will meet at any point in the sequel coming out next since the original story in the novels written by Kalki Krishnamurthy showed otherwise.

Acclaimed Tamil writer Jeyamohan, who has collaborated with Mani Ratnam and Elango Kumaravel for the screenplay, while also writing the dialogues for Ponniyin Selvan: 2, sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview to talk about whether there would be a meeting between the Aditha Karikalan and Arunmozhi Varman characters in the film. Explaining the differences between novels and cinema, he said, "For the most part, novels are a depiction of dialogues and thoughts. Novels are ideal for the story. Cinema isn't like that. Cinema must be in the visual form. And, in cinema, if the main characters don't meet, then it's not a story. It's not a film. If you read the novel, all the characters will be speaking about Aditha Karikalan. He doesn't appear in person. Once he comes in person, he dies. We can't make a film like that. If that is the case, Aditha Karikalan appears in the film right away. Now, that is not there in the novel, right? That is cinema. In cinema, the person is important. In the novel, if five characters keep talking about Aditha Karikalan, we'll visualize a picture. In cinema, if five characters are talking about a character, will you get the picture?
