A total of six Indian films will be screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival, which will be held for 10 days starting on May 17. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement about the shortlisted six films that will be screened at the prestigious film festival among which also include leading Tamil actor R. Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect later this month. The actor is a part of the Indian delegation and will be participating in the opening ceremony of Cannes 2022 by presenting his maiden directorial venture. 

On Thursday, the Press Information Bureau shared a press note stating, "The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has today released the lineup of films that will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The lineup includes the world premiere of Shri. R. Madhavan-starrer Rocketry, also directed by Shri Madhavan." Apart from Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, the films that will be screened at Cannes 2022 include the Tree Full of Parrots directed by Jayaraj (Malayalam), the Achal Mishra-directed Dhuin (Hindi-Marathi bilingual), Boomba Ride directed by Biswajeet Bora (Mishing dialect), Nikhil Mahajan's Godavari (Marathi) and Alpha Beta Gamma under Shankar Srikumar's direction (Hindi). The press release further states that Rocketry will premiere at Palais K, while the remaining five Indian ventures will be screened at the Olympia theater at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

Announced for a worldwide theatrical release on July 1, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a biopic of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and Aerospace Engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The upcoming pan-Indian venture has Madhavan paired with Simran, while the ensemble cast includes Rajit Kapur, Ravi Raghavendra, Meesha Ghoshal, Karthik Kumar, Gulshan Grover, Dinesh Prabhakar, Mohan Raman, Ron Donachie among others, with Suriya playing a guest role in the Tamil version, while Shah Rukh Khan will appear in the Hindi edition.
