Star comedian Yogi Babu is the latest addition to the star cast of Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming action comedy, Maaveeran and the update has garnered wide attention on social media. The shooting of Maaveeran kickstarted yesterday (August 3) in Chennai with Sivakarthikeyan and the rest of the cast and the makers have been announcing the star cast one after another. Earlier this evening, Yogi Babu was officially confirmed to be a part of Maaveeran and the Kolamaavu Kokila actor's successful association with SK continues.

Director Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar who will be making her acting debut in Kollywood with Karthi's Viruman is the female lead of Maaveeran and it is indeed great that the young talent has bagged yet another biggie. Acclaimed filmmaker Mysskin is also a part of the cast and if the buzz is to be believed, the film will have him playing the antagonist. It is going to be an exciting treat for the film buffs to witness SK and Mysskin together in a single frame. Yesteryear actress Saritha will also be seen playing a pivotal character. The rest of the cast are expected to be announced soon.

Maaveeran is directed by the young and talented Madonne Ashwin who bagged two National Film Awards - Best Debut Director and Best Dialogues for his exceptional work in Mandela and all eyes are now on the Sivakarthikeyan starrer. Produced by Arun Viswa under the banner of Shanthi Talkies, the film will have music composed by popular indie musician Bharath Sankar, while the cinematography and editing departments are headed by Vidhu Ayyana and Philomin Raj respectively. Kumar Gangappan will be handling the art direction. Maaveeran will be a Tamil - Telugu bilingual and the Telugu version of the film is called Mahaveerudu. Details regarding the release plans of the movie are yet to be known and stay tuned to this space for more updates.
