Cricketer S Sreesanth is set to be seen on the big screen once again and will be making his Tamil cinema debut in the 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the upcoming film touted to be a fun-filled rom-com youth entertainer will see the cricketer in a pivotal role, with his character set to be a catalyst to the story's proceedings. Sreeshanth further revealed in an interview that he was cast in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal prior to his ban from cricket being lifted.

Having recently displayed an impressive showing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as the highest wicket-taker for Kerala, Sreeshanth will be stepping up for his next big innings on the silver screen in Tamil cinema after he previously made appearances in Hindi films like Zareen Khan's Aksar 2 and Richa Chadda's Cabaret, including his hero debut in Malayalam in Team 5 opposite Nikki Galrani. Currently balancing his shoots along with his training schedule for the next Ranji Trophy season, Sreeshanth had earlier also expressed his hope to make a comeback into the Indian cricket team.

As for Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, the post-production works are now underway with Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara recently dubbing their portions. The film, which also stars Samantha as another female lead, also stars veteran actor Prabhu, whose casting was revealed sometime back when he was dubbing along with the rest of the team. Among the highlights in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, the film's music is by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander, with the songs 'Rendu Kaadhal' and 'Two Two Two' turning out to be chart-busters. Although the film was initially announced to hit screens this month, those plans have taken a step back, with an official announcement now awaited for a new release date.
