The Canada Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has now featured the Tamil cinema superstar on the prestigious New York Times Square billboard ahead of his birthday on June 22, with a video posted by one of the club members now taking social media by storm. This massive gesture now makes Vijay the first Tamil actor to have a billboard featured at the NY Times Square as part of his birthday celebrations, with clippings from Theri (2016), Sarkar (2018), Master (2021), Beast (2022) and Varisu (2023) also being shown. Vijay's popularity has been on an unstoppable rise over the years and this latest gesture by his fans overseas is yet another big example to show how much they adore him. The actor is currently busy filming the highly-anticipated Leo under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction, with the first single from the film titled 'Naa Ready' set to be released as a special birthday treat on Thursday. Being produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio banner, the upcoming action thriller includes music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander and is the composer's second collaboration with Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj after their 2021 blockbuster, Master.
Vijay is also expected to begin his next film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, once he wraps up filming Leo, which is scheduled to open in theatres worldwide on October 19. The actor will be joining hands with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu for the first time and the hit director is expected to come up with an entertaining script along the lines of his previous ventures like the Chennai 600028 films, Mankatha and Maanaadu. Announced for a release in 2024, Thalapathy 68 is also the second time Vijay is teaming up with Yuvan Shankar Raja after their Pudhiya Geethai (2003) and expectations are huge for the celebrated composer to deliver a cracker of an album and background score. Likewise, the distinguished AGS Entertainment banner is bankrolling a Vijay venture for the second time after their Bigil (2019), which went on to become a raging box office money-spinner.
