Kannada director Prashanth Neel became a national sensation after the blockbuster success of his K. G. F: Chapter 1, released towards the end of 2018. The period action film, starring 'Rocking Star' Yash, is the first installment in the series, with the sequel K. G. F: Chapter 2 currently being shot and is nearing a finish in its production. KGF: Chapter 1, which became the highest-grossing Kannada film of all-time, was incidentally dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, and received a thunderous response from fans across the nation. Produced under Vijay Kiragandur’s Hombale Films banner, KGF: Chapter 2 resumed production last week after an indefinite halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As KGF 2 will draw to a close soon, the question on everyone's mind has been as to what plans director Prashanth Neel has in store next. Fans have been querying the filmmaker, who debuted in Kannada cinema in 2014 with the action thriller, Ugramm, with one Twitter user asking him whether he would work with Prabhas or Jr NTR next in Telugu. Prashanth Neel, who enjoys a good rapport with his fans, responded back saying a decision on his future projects will be taken only after he completes his ongoing work on KGF Chapter 2 and that the announcement would be made only then. He said, "Future projects will be announced only after my responsibility towards #KGFChapter2 ends Thank you!!"

Fans of both Prabhas and Jr NTR have on a number of occasions expressed their desire for the actors to team up with Prashanth Neel, especially after the rousing success of KGF: Chapter 1. It is to be noted that there were strong speculations that he would be joining hands with Jr NTR after the Telugu superstar wraps up his work on Baahubali director SS Rajamouli's upcoming magnum opus period multi-starrer, RRR, which also has Ram Charan in the lead role.

All sights are now set on Prashanth Neel to complete KGF: Chapter 2 by the end of this month after which a release plan will be formulated. Apart from Yash, KGF 2 will see Srinidhi Shetty reprising her role as the female lead, with Sanjay Dutt set to make his appearance as the dreaded Adheera. Several notable names like Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag, Archana Jois, Vasishta N Simha, Avinash BS, Achyuth Kumar, Balakrishna will be seen in major supporting roles, while Prakash Raj, Raveena Tandon, Saran Shakthi are some of the new additions to the cast.
