It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 4,462 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 670,392! Of these, 1,130 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 185,573! Kancheepuram has recorded 148 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 23,957, while 850 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 40,148 total cases of which 2,032 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 35,342 cases with 1,463 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 389 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 274 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 272 new cases!
There have been 52 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,423. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 185,573 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 42,566 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 13,488! There have been 5,083 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 617,403. There have been 95,538 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 8,584,041 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 93,844 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 8,340,674!
