Jan 23 - TN COVID Update: 586 New Cases | 02 New Deaths | Total - 834,171 Cases & 12,309 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 586 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 834,171! After over months together of continuously recording a high number of new cases each day since May, Tamil Nadu finally begun recording less than 1,000 cases in recent days. The good news is that the numbers are continuing to reduce steadily and Chennai's daily new cases tally has been steadily recording below 200 in these recent days! 153 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 230,026! Kancheepuram has recorded 25 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 29,150 and 137 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 51,206 total cases of which 379 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 43,379 cases with 227 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 51 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Coimbatore has recorded 47 cases and Tiruppur has recorded 30 new cases!
There have been 02 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 12,309. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 230,026 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 4,984 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 1,749! There have been 673 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 816,878. There have been 63,073 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 15,577,766 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country! 62,849 people have been tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people tested so far, to 15,267,910!
