All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI) General Secretary Bussy Anand on Saturday addressed media persons and informed that a meeting was held earlier in the day with representatives and members from all districts of actor Vijay's fan clubs to decide on the strategy ahead of the Tamil Nadu urban civic body elections in which they will be contesting as independent candidates. During the interaction with the press, he said that candidates from all districts can come forward to inform about filing their nominations, which will then be reviewed by the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam. He further stated that it will be brought to Vijay's attention and they will follow as per his instructions.

Bussy Anand was also asked about the Tamil Nadu Election Commission rejecting the auto symbol as the official emblem for the candidates to which he responded saying that it was suggested only as an example of a reference. Upon being queried as to what big happy news Vijay has in store for fans next and whether it will be the announcement of his own political party, the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam head signed off with a smile leaving many wondering if there indeed could be a declaration on those lines in the days ahead.

Earlier this week, All India Vijay Makkal Iyakkam's members had been given permission to use the actor's photos and the fan association's flag during their campaign in the urban local body elections. It was also informed that candidates will be contesting the upcoming civic body elections independently based on the 2021 model. The decision came after the state election commission announced that the polls will be held on February 19, with the vote counting to be carried out on February 22. It is to be noted that 129 members of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam came out triumphant in the TN local body elections last year after contesting in 169 seats to become village panchayat ward heads.

On the work front, Vijay has completed shooting for his Beast under Nelson Dilipkumar's direction produced by Sun Pictures, which is set to open as a grand theatrical release this April. He will also begin shooting for the upcoming Thalapathy 66 from March under Vamshi Paidipally’s direction being produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
