'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan surprised fans by posting a photo of himself clicking a picture of the 'Netaji' Subhash Chandra Bose statue at Marina Beach, Chennai, during the shooting of Indian 2 on Thursday, December 15. Sharing pictures on Twitter and seen wearing prosthetic makeup as part of his Senapathy character, the Tamil cinema superstar got nostalgic and wrote, "This statue of the great hero Netaji was inaugurated by 'Kalaignar' Karunanidhi on the same day 25 years ago. I'm now standing under the same statue for the shooting of Indian 2. Great humans, great memories." Below is Kamal Haasan's tweet:

Filming on Indian 2 has been progressing at a brisk pace in and around Chennai over the past few days and we can expect production to continue for some more time in the city. The film is the sequel to 1996 cult classic blockbuster Indian and sees Kamal Haasan reuniting with director Shankar. The 1996 film had 'Netaji' Subhash Chandra Bose serving as the inspiration for Kamal Haasan's Senapathy character (called 'Indian Thatha' by fans everywhere), who independently goes after those indulging in corruption. Kamal Haasan as Senapathy in Indian is a freedom fighter, who served in Netaji's Indian National Army (INA), showing him towards the end making an escape to a foreign country and warning his countrymen that he will resume his movement against all those who indulge in corruption.

Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 is being produced by Lyca Productions in association with Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies and has a huge ensemble star cast that includes Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead, with Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, veteran actors Delhi Ganesh, Gulshan Grover, and former cricketer Yograj Singh (Yuvraj Singh's father) and features music by Anirudh Ravichander.
