One of the most popular stars in south Indian cinema, actress Samantha mesmerized fans in 2018 with her fantastic performances in films namely Rangasthalam with Ram Charan, Irumbu Thirai opposite Vishal, Sivakarthikeyan’s Seema Raja, the horror thriller, U-Turn, and as Madhura Vani in Mahanati/Nadigaiyar Thilagam.
Samantha also has a promising 2019 ahead as she is part of Thiagarajan Kumaraja’s Super Deluxe in Tamil, Majili with her husband Naga Chaitanya which is also their first film after their marriage and Oh Baby! Yentha Sakkagunnave in Telugu helmed by BV Nandhini Reddy.
Super Deluxe directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja will be the first film of 2019 for Samantha alongside 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan in lead roles with Mysskin, Gayathrie, Bagavathi Perumal, Mirnalini Ravi, Ashwanth among others in vital roles. With music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the upcoming thriller has been produced by Tyler Durden and Kino Fist in association with East West Dream Works Entertainment and Alchemy Vision Workz banners and is gearing up for a theatrical release on March 29.
Meanwhile, promotion works for Super Deluxe have kicked off with Samantha taking part in Galatta’s Handbag segment hosted by popular VJ Ashiq in which she surprised everybody by bringing the handbag used by Vijay Sethupathi's character Shilpa in the film.
When Samantha was queried about the impact Super Deluxe would have in her career, the superstar actress went on to state she would have not taken up roles that lend a big change. She further added Thiagarajan Kumararaja's conviction, honesty and his story narration convinced her to sign up for the film and the rest is now history.
Samantha also felt she hasn’t done a role like the one in Super Deluxe in her career till date. She added saying rather than complaining about not getting good roles, it is always a wise decision to accept the roles that come your way and confessed her film choices in the last 2 years variably differed as she is a lot more selective about the characters she is now playing.
