Director Halitha Shameem's Aelay had its world television premiere yesterday (February 28) at 3 PM on Vijay TV. Aelay was Vijay TV's first ever Tamil film to have had a direct television premiere and it got a solid amount of viewership. Several family audiences were glued to their television sets on Sunday evening. Following the television premiere, the makers have now made a big announcement revealing that the film will soon have its digital premiere on the Netflix streaming platform. The film is expected to stream on Netflix, this month and an official announcement regarding the exact release date is expected to be made very soon.

Through its digital premiere, Aelay will find a wider range of audiences and let us hope that the film gets more recognition and love. The film earned positive reviews from the critics and the general audience from its special preview shows and television premiere and those who have missed the film can now get ready to watch it on Netflix. Aelay is directed by Halitha Shameem who is known for her feel good breezy entertainers like Poovarasam Pee Pee and Sillu Karuppatti. The film is produced by Sashikanth under his banner of Y Not Studios, while acclaimed directors duo, Pushkar and Gayathri have worked as the creative producers of the film.

Aelay features Samuthirakani and Manikandan in the lead roles and it revolves around the relationship between a father and a son. Aelay starts off with Parthi (Manikandan) coming to his village to attend the funeral of his father, Muthukutty (Samuthirakani). The roller coaster series of events that happen at the funeral is what the film is all about. The film was raved by the public and the critics for its neatly handled emotions, top notch performances of the lead actors, and Halitha Shameem's writing. The film had songs composed by Kaber Vasuki, while the background music was composed by Aruldev.
