Veteran Tamil film director P. Vasu's daughter Abhirami Vasudevan got married to Radhakrishnan IAS' son Pon Sundar in a star hotel at Chennai on Wednesday. The couple entered wedlock in the presence of family members, with a reception also being held in the same hotel in the evening. Several notable Tamil film stars attended the wedding among whom were actor Prabhu and his wife Punithavathi, producer Ramkumar and his son Dushyant on behalf of the Sivaji Ganesan's family. Tamil cinema fans will know the friendship and association the two families share with each other as the blockbuster director has directed films like Chinna Thambi, Mannan and Chandramukhi under the Sivaji Productions banner. Likewise, actor-politician Khushbu, who has acted under P. Vasu's direction in Chinna Thambi and Rikshaw Mama, graced the occasion with her daughters and wished the newly-wed couple. P. Vasu's elder son Shakti Vasu, known also among fans for his stint in Bigg Boss Tamil season 1, too was present at the wedding and was seen attending to the guests. 

A four-time state award winner, P. Vasu has been felicitated by the government for his work and contribution to the film industry. He has won the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Screenplay and Dialogues for Nadigan in 1990 and as the Best Director for Chinna Thambi in 1991. The box office money-spinner director also won the Tamil Nadu State Film Honorary Award - J. Jayalalithaa Award in 2002. It is to be noted that the celebrated filmmaker was awarded the Kalaimaamani Award in 2004. 

In an illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, P. Vasu made his directorial debut in 1981 with Panneer Pushpangal, which he co-directed with Santhana Bharathi. His first solo directorial in Tamil was the 1988 film, En Thangachi Padichava, starring Prabhu Ganesan and Rupini in the lead roles. Soon after, he joined hands with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth in 1990 for Panakkaran, after which his Nadigan with Sathyaraj also turned out to be a huge success the same year. The biggest moment in P. Vasu's career at that time came after the release of Chinna Thambi in 1991, which turned out to be a mega box office blockbuster, with the director delivering an all-family entertainer that continues to enjoy a massive fan following even to this date. Some other big P. Vasu Tamil films include Rajinikanth's Mannan and Chandramukhi, Rickshaw Mama, Walter Vetrivel and Malabar Police with Sathyaraj, Sethupathi IPS with 'Captain' Vijayakanth and Prabhu Deva's Love Birds to name a few. The filmmaker's last Tamil directorial was the Raghava Lawrence starrer Shivalinga in 2017, while his last film as a director was the Kannada venture Ayushman Bhava starring Shiva Rajkumar.
