In what is considered an extreme rarity, Google's video playing platform YouTube's services were affected for over an hour, earlier today! This is an extremely rare occurrence, as such extended outages never happen in products of tech giants like Google. People were unable to use YouTube's services for over an hour and people began taking to Twitter to report the issue! Users were not allowed to play videos on the YouTube platform and it was down for well over an hour before services resumed.

However, YouTube was quick to take note of the issue and posted a tweet, acknowledging that the platform was down and that work was being undertaken to get it back online, as soon as possible! The tweet from YouTube's handle read, "If you're having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you're not alone – our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We'll follow up here with any updates." While the platform was down, the hashtag - "#YouTubedown" began trending across the globe with over 200,000 tweets by users!

The YouTube team however, had the issue resolved in an hour and the users were able to get back to viewing videos on the platform. At around 7:53 am IST, Team YouTube took to Twitter to inform people that the issues had been resolved and that it was back and running! The tweet read, "If you're having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you're not alone – our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We'll follow up here with any updates." The reason behind the outage has not been revealed as yet but it definitely seems to be something major, to cause outage for over an hour. Some other Google services like Google Play was also down. People could download apps from the Google Platstore but the installation couldn't be completed.
