'Chiyaan' Vikram is back on the sets of his next big film, Thangalaan, being directed by acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Pa. Ranjith, the actor announced on social media on Friday, February 17. The National Award-winning Tamil actor is sporting a completely new look for the upcoming film, which has been the talk of the town ever since his getup was first revealed last year during the promotions of his pan-Indian blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1. In that light, Vikram, posted a few new pictures of himself chilling in the swimming pool and beating the heat at what appears to be the Thangalaan sets as hinted on his Twitter page in his caption. Vikram and Pa. Ranjith teaming up in Thangalaan is one of the most exciting Tamil cinema collaborations in recent times as it sees two highly skilled and spectacular talents coming together for the first time. The film was launched amidst huge fanfare and a title announcement teaser too was released revealing Vikram's new look for the first time and thus raising curiosity. The buzz surrounding Thangalaan has been huge after Pa. Ranjith revealed during the launch ceremony last year that the film's story is set in the pre-Independence era and will revolve around the lives of the gold miners in the Kolar Gold Fields (K.G.F.) in Karnataka.
Being produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green and Ranjith’s Neelam Productions banners, Thangalaan will see Vikram sharing screen space with the highly-talented Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvoth of Maryan fame, while Pasupathy will be seen in yet another powerful role after his thunderous performance in Sarpatta Parambarai, with Master heroine Malavika Mohanan and Madras fame Harikrishnan Anbudurai too playing pivotal roles. One of the biggest and most-anticipated ventures of 2023, Vikram's Thangalaan will feature music by G. V. Prakash Kumar and the National Award-winning composer will no doubt be looking to challenge himself and prove his mettle once again.
