Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies and featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman released in 2022 turned out to be a phenomenal success and all sights are now set on the sequel, Ponniyin Selvan: 2, scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on April 28. The upcoming film will pick up from the events of where the original had left off and promotions are well underway to make it the biggest release of 2023. Meanwhile, Lyca Productions released a new promo for Ponniyin Selvan: 2 on Wednesday, March 1, kicking off the promotions for the film, which shows the lead stars 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi sharing their experiences of working in the original last year.

This latest Ponniyin Selvan: 2 glimpse offers fans a look at 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi reminiscing the times they had on the sets of PS: 1, while also teasing fans on what they can expect up ahead in PS: 2. The video starts off with the three stars introducing their characters Aditha Karikalan, Arunmozhi Varman aka. Ponniyin Selvan, and Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan, respectively. We then see Karthi informing that fans they will witness something they have not seen before, while Jayam Ravi states that the story is a mix of real and fictional events. Vikram is also seen telling that there is a beautiful love story and the incidents that turn it villainous, with a few visuals being shown from PS: 2 as well. Furthermore, Jayam Ravi explains the mystery about how there's his family in agony over his character Arunmozhi Varman's fate and whether he's alive or not after PS: 1 ended on a cliffhanger note. The Ponniyin Selvan: 2 glimpse also shares a few visuals of the film's female leads Trisha as Kundavai and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in dual roles as Nandini and Mandakini, with actor Jayaram also seen making an appearance during the promotions.
The new Ponniyin Selvan: 2 glimpse not only kick-starts the film's promotions, but also puts an end to the false claims and reports on social media that the team was planning to postpone its release. Earlier, a promo for the sequel was released last year giving fans a new look into the characters, while also confirming the release date. PS: 2 will also see Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, R. Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Jayachitra, Vidya Subramanian, Mohan Raman, and Riyaz Khan to name a notable few reprising their roles from the first film.
