Bommai is the long-awaited film of actor S.J. Surya which is set to release in theatres on June 16, tomorrow. The actor has turned producer for the film that is helmed by Radha Mohan. The psychological drama film also has Priya Bhavani Shankar and Chandini Tamilarasan in important roles. It also has music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja who is known for mesmerising tunes. The film has created huge excitement among people and has been in the pipeline for a long time.
The actor and producer of Bommai, S.J. Suryah gave an exclusive interview with the National Award-winning critic Baradwaj Rangan, the editor-in-chief of Galatta Plus. As the host asked is it easy to produce films today? The director said “it’s tough, as a director and actor its art, for a producer it's gambling at any time. Maybe we can say it's artistic gambling. We can get the money back or maybe not." The actor then said if it became a hit he will get back the money, and if it's not he will not get it back. He added "previously we can get back some money, now, that too is not possible. But if we do a good thing people will not disrespect it, that I know. Always I do only entertaining and commercial films but the same elements are different in this film."
The actor S.J. Suryah gave the example of 96, Thiruchitrambalam and Kanthara that they do not have any item song and will be focused and sincere to the story. "if Dhanush sir thought, he could have kept an item song or fight in Thiruchitrambalam, he didn't do that. If the 96 director had thought he could have shows they went to a restaurant or a pub and there was a dance there or in a beach resort. They didn't do that they focused only on content and people will make good content a commercial success. When I heard the story and was acting in the film (Bommai), I saw these films and it gave me more confidence because people accept good content," said the actor. Watch full interview:
