Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has various exciting projects in his lineup and one among those happens to be the biopic of former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan. It is going to be interesting to see Vijay Sethupathi essaying the role of the legendary off spinner. The film is titled 800, denoting the number of wickets taken by Muralitharan in his Test career. 800 will be directed by MS Sripathy who made his directorial debut with Jai’s Kanimozhi. The project was officially announced a few days before and it got a good reception from the fans. Following that, the makers have now released the motion poster of the film which looks interesting and intriguing. The motion poster tells us a short story about the hardships faced by the legendary spinner during his childhood days and the initial stages of his career. The makers should definitely be appreciated for taking up the topic of the political problems and riots that happened in Sri Lanka. Notably, Vijay Sethupathi's makeover as Muralitharan is exciting and he looks very real.

Produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures in association with Dar motion Pictures, 800 is backed by a solid technical team which includes RD Rajasekar ISC (cinematography), Sam CS (music), T Shivanandeeswaran (edit) and Jayashree Lakshminarayanan (production design). Talking about the project, Vijay Sethupathi said, “When I first met Muttiah Muralitharan sir, I immediately told him that I do not know anything about cricket. I have never played the game. Even during my childhood days, I was used as a ball boy and I never had a playing experience. But, he was so grounded and told me that they needed someone like that only to play the lead. He is so genuine and true to his sport. It takes a lot of conviction to play him,”.

Muttiah Muralidharan said, “First things first, we both look similar to each other and he is undoubtedly one of the best actors we have right now. He can do any challenging character with ease and who else than him can do my character? There is a lot of emotion in the film and there are several challenging scenes as well. I am sure he would take up the challenge in the right spirit and ace it”. The film’s shooting is expected to begin very soon and the pre-production works are happening in full swing.
