2019 turned out to be phenomenal for actor Ajith Kumar, who kicked off the year with his Pongal release, Viswasam, opposite Nayanthara and under Siva's direction. The rural family action drama produced by Sathya Jyothi Films and featuring chart-buster music by D. Imman went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Ajith's career, who then came out with the legal drama Nerkonda Paarvai in August. An official remake of the critically smash hit Hindi film Pink, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Paanu in the lead roles, the Tamil remake Nerkonda Paarvai was directed by H. Vinoth under Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and turned out to be yet another sensational success for Ajith, who is currently filming for his upcoming Valimai and once again with the same team.

Nerkonda Paarvai also starring Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang and Vidya Balan among others, included a few mass elements for Ajith, with H. Vinoth as well receiving praises for his treatment for the Tamil remake. Among the aspects in Nerkonda Paarvai that struck a chord among audiences were issues of women empowerment and sexual harassment, which also created a lot of debate among the public post the release of the film. In that light, popular Tamil singer Chinmayi Sripada who watched the film on Sunday night, has appreciated the people associated with the film for tackling sensitive issues, while also conveying her regards to actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, who is remaking it as Vakeel Saab in Telugu. It is to be noted that Chinmayi had also expressed her happiness after watching Viswasam as well and tweeted, "Just got to watch Viswasam. Absolutely loved it. So heartwarming to see such a progressive film. Makes me so happy that this film did so well."

Chinmayi's statement about Nerkonda Paarvai is as follows: "I am a very average film watcher who likes happy films. It's very hard for me digest any kind of gritty films. And I was scared to watch Nerkonda Paarvai because I felt it would be difficult. Finally found the courage to watch it last night. And I was so happy to see the message being conveyed in such a sensitive manner. Lots of love and affection to the team. So heartening to see big stars like Ajith sir agree to do such nuanced, progressive films. He will help spread the message wider and hopefully make many think, question and understand. Really happy that Pawan Kalyan sir is doing it in Telugu. So proud of writers and directors who are making films like Nerkonda Paarvai, Dear Comrade and Brochevarevarura. Thank you for your understanding and sensitivity. It helps to have allies like you to change how we think about and respond to such situations." Below is her statement:
