Earlier today (December 10), the much awaited announcement about Vijay's next film - Thalapathy 65 was made. After a long patient wait, the fans got the answer to who is directing Thalapathy 65. Nelson Dilipkumar of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor (yet to be released) fame got the million dollar opportunity to helm this mega biggie and it is indeed a big leap in his career. Nelson will be looking forward to using this opportunity to his potential best. The fans have already got huge expectations on this movie that is expected to go on floors, early next year. Vijay's look in the announcement video grabbed the attention of the fans and film buffs and people were excited to know if this is his look for the film. However, it is too early to come to conclusions about Vijay's look in the film and let us keep our fingers crossed until then.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Thalapathy 65 will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander who shares a very good rapport with Nelson. Notably, Thalapathy 65 will mark Anirudh's third film with Vijay after Kaththi and Master. More details regarding the film will be known in the coming days. Ever since the announcement was made this evening, wishes have been pouring in for director Nelson on being the chosen one to helm Vijay's next. Sivakarthikeyan, who has been travelling with Nelson since his Vijay TV days, took to his Twitter page to congratulate him.

SK addressed Nelson as a man with big dreams. He tweeted, "Extremely happy for you Nelson na my brother with big dreams joining big names Best wishes to @actorvijay sir, @sunpictures and my dear @anirudhofficial". Sivakarthikeyan is the hero of Nelson's current directorial venture, Doctor, which is in the final stages of shooting. Nelson will be completing Doctor by this year end or early next year after which he will move onto Thalapathy 65. Similarly, director Atlee, who shares a very good relationship with Vijay, was excited to hear about this new combination. Atlee tweeted, "Verithanam!!! Overloaded best wishes to @actorvijay Anna @sunpictures kalanithi maran sir @Nelsondilpkumar bro @anirudhofficial bro and entire team #Thalapathy65".

Vijay's recent choice of directors has impressed a lot of people and it is good to see him encouraging young and promising filmmakers. When Thalapathy 64 was officially announced, everyone was pleasantly surprised seeing Vijay collaborating with a young gen filmmaker like Lokesh Kanagaraj and it created a huge buzz. He is now continuing the success formula by choosing Nelson to direct Thalapathy 65 and let us hope that his decision wins big. Check out the tweets of Sivakarthikeyan and Atlee below:
