It is known for a fact that Chiyaan Vikram was acting in Mahavir Karna, a historical epic that was been made on a mammoth budget of over 300 crores. This mega action film was being directed by Malayalam filmmaker RS Vimal of Ennu Ninte Moideen fame. Even recently, on the occasion of Vikram’s birthday, Vimal had shared a new video on his social media profile that took us into the world of Mahavir Karna. Earlier this week, RS Vimal has announced that he will be working on another big-budget film in the backdrop of the legendary history of Travancore. The film would apparently talk about the life of a true hero and Malayalam Superstar has apparently agreed to play the lead. This project has been titled as Dharmarajya, RS Vimal had even posted the title look of this film on his Facebook page last week - “A devotional dedication at the lotus feet of Lord Sree Padmanabhaswamy,Thiruvananthapuram from the backdrop of the legendary history of travancore, comes to life, a true hero......The ecstasic crowd puller, the Superstar of Malayalam, has committed to the role....... DHARMARAJYA The movie will be shot using latest virtual productions techniques in london. The film shall be made in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. With wholehearted Prayers to Lord Sree Padmanabha.”

Soon after, the announcement of Dharmarajya, it was speculated that RS Vimal has dropped Chiyaan Vikram’s Mahavir Karna. Apparently, Mahavir Karna is not dropped like circulated on the internet. The director has now opened up about the issue to a media house - “I came across a few online portals which reported that Mahavir Karna is likely to be dropped. I don’t understand how people can come up with such speculations. As per the current plans, Vikram sir will join the shooting after he completes Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan. Due to the current uncertainty everywhere, I thought I will have some time before Karna goes on floors again, and thought of doing another project, and hence, announced Dharma Rajya, which is also a multilingual. The film is my dream project and I can wait for any amount of time to complete it.” It must be noted that RS Vimal had first announced this project in 2016 with Prithiviraj in the lead role but the film was dropped and later Chiyaan Vikram came on board and they restarted the project in the year 2018. Now, it looks like Mahavir Karna will resume when Chiyaan Vikram completes Ponniyin Selvan and Cobra. The film will be made as a bilingual, in Tamil and Hindi, while it would be dubbed and released in other languages. It is a multi-starrer which would also have the likes of Suresh Gopi playing the other lead. Jeyamohan has penned the Tamil dialogues for the film. Mahavir Karna is produced by United Film Kingdom.
